Side Project : Perfect for Outdoor Photography — The Musou Black Ruler

A new product from Musou Black, the Musou Black Ruler, is now available. This ruler is designed to excel in outdoor photography and environments with strong light sources, ensuring measurement markings remain clearly visible.
First, take a look at the comparison below.

On the left is a standard ruler, and on the right is Musou Black’s newly developed Musou Black Ruler.
Under strong lighting, standard rulers often reflect light, making the scale difficult to read. In contrast, the Musou Black Ruler clearly displays its markings with no glare, making it extremely useful for documentation photography. After this comparison image was posted on X, it received 29,000 likes, which led to the decision to commercialize the product.
Real-World Use Cases
Below are examples of how the ruler has been used in actual fieldwork.

(Photos provided by Amanex Co., Ltd.)
The first example shows its use in surveying, specifically for crack inspections on structures. Previously, metal rulers were placed next to cracks for size reference when taking photos, but sunlight often caused reflections that made the markings unreadable. The Musou Black Ruler eliminates glare, making outdoor photography far more efficient.

Another example from surveying is the documentation photo taken when installing boundary markers. A ruler is photographed alongside the marker to show scale, and the Musou Black Ruler performs reliably without the issue of reflected light.
Next is a photo taken during plant disease documentation.

Even when strong frontal lighting is used, the ruler produces no glare, allowing clear and smooth photography.
